Japan Town Anime Faire
'Bout time I got around to this, ne? ^^*
Well, for a little two-day [non]con where we did absolutely nothing, it was pretty fun. I think because I like just sitting around, enjoying the company of friends...while dressed as anime characters...I'm able to have fun at a con where I don't really do anything.
But anyway...
Of course I started Saturday with tennis class...where I did a Dunk Smash!!!! XD Ok, so it wasn't nearly as high as Momo's, but I actually did run up the net, jumped, and smashed the ball in. Woot! Ph33r my tennis skillz!! ^,^ That was in singles; then we played doubles and my partner, Tina, and I got our butts kicked because we were too busy goofing around to play right. ^^* But it was fun, as usual.
After class I went home, showered, got dressed in my Hyotei jersey and tennis shorts, then called Jesse and found out I had to go aaalll the way back to Salinas to pick him up. -_- That boy...girl...thing...has to get to driving. I refuse to become his chauffeur.
But anyway... ^^*
Got all my shit together, picked him up, and we (quickly) made our way to San Jose. There I let Mew-chan borrow my Seigaku jersey, tied her hair back, and put my Kaidou bandanna on her. Tada! Mini-Kaidou! ^,^ So much cute.
Then we left there and headed for San Francisco, where we picked up Slave, and left some of our excess stuff at his house (which later turned out to be a bad idea, when we realized we'd left a bunch of stuff we needed in our bags...including my cameras... ~_~ no pictures for me...).
We got a little lost on our way to Japan Town...but not really. The directions I printed off Yahoo!Maps took this really weird direction, and I think we missed a turn (or two..) we needed, but going down the road we were on actually got us there just fine, though it seemed to take a lot longer than it should have. But we still got there! Just...a little bit late....
Actually, because we were late and still had to register and stuff, we ended up missing the 'GetBackers' LJ community gathering. o.o Oops... (though we did later find out only, like, three people were there anyway).
So we did a little wondering around, but there was nothing really going on, so we just went to Kinokuniya. Got a few pictures taken and saw a few con-buddies along the way (where the others quickly learned I really do know everyone ^^* ). While in Kinokuniya we spotted out the window two unmistakable giant swords. ^_^ Baron and Aaron and a friend of theirs were across the way, waiting to get into the Izumiya restaurant. So I called Aaron (it's really faaaar too amusing seeing Gattsu whip out a cell phone and put it to his ear... ^^* ) and when he asked where I was I told him I was watching him. ^^* It was absolutely hilarious seeing him start looking around, trying to find us. XD After a little teasing I eventually told him where we were, and had Mew-chan wave her arms so he could find us. ^,^ He invited us to eat with them, so we went over, but it turned out they didn't have any tables big enough to seat all of us, so we got separated. Then, not long after we ordered, a big table cleared and we moved so we could all be together. I called Helen and told her where we were, and a few minutes later she and Kitty joined us. ...And we all had one big lunchtime orgy. ^^* (jk) Though Aaron did point out that we'd seen each other every weekend for the past month. ^.^ Whee!
After we ate our groups kind of separated again...and I really don't remember if we did anything. ^^* I know at some point we went to some of the stores in the mall, and we ran into the guys who were cosplaying as Inui and Kaidou at Fanime. Now the Kaidou was playing as Tezuka, and the Inui was...out of costume. ^^* So we got a few pics with 'Buchou' (or, as I later came up with, 'Buchou no Koibito' ... since I was Hyotei an' all.. ^^ ).
And we also were in the Miyako Hotel for a bit, hanging out in the Swap Meet room. We talked with the guy at the Fanime booth for a while, and got silly/naughty pictures taken (being the oddest PoT pairing ever! ^^** ).
And...hmm...aside from wandering around, talking to friends and such, I really don't remember what we did. ^^* I guess eventually we left, got a little lost, but made our way back to Slave's house. ^^ We ordered pizza and watched anime ('Project ARMS' and 'Berserk'! =D ), until we fell asleep. ^_^ I was sleeping on one of the couches, but got really hot, so moved to the floor, where it was much cooler. ...then got chilly, so went back to the couch, then to the floor, then to the couch... ^^* Lots of moving around.
During the day we had joked about Mew-chan hissing (a la Kaidou) in my ear to wake me up...and she did. ^^ Though I was pretty much awake already anyway. And Jesse said when he saw me on the floor he thought I'd fallen off the couch. ^^* But since we were up we had breakfast (tea and oatmeal for me!) and showered and got dressed, played a few video games, and eventually left.
This time we went the way Slave knew to get to J-town. No more getting lost! ^^ We parked and wandered around a bit, then went to Kinokuniya. There I broke down and bought TeniPuri manga volumes 17 & 18 (the Tezuka/Atobe match) and 'D.N.Angel' vol. 9 (where there was much giggling over Daisuke in a dress ^^ ). Went outside where there was a costume contest going on; Mew-chan and I stood there and read manga while Jesse and Slave ran around taking pictures. Then went to the Swap Meet room again and hung out for a (very) short while, then ran around, looking for one of the video rooms. Finally found it (in a different hotel, across the street....) and watched anime for...a few hours, actually.
Got to see 'E's Otherwise', which I've been interested in for a little while. It's pretty good. ^_^ I really like the character Shen-long; he's a feisty little punk who likes to cause trouble. ^_^ (reminds me of Zephel and Inori)
Then there were a couple episodes of 'Dear Boys'. Several extremely hot bishonen; we joked it was going to make basketball our next sport. ...I don't think so. ^,^* (love my tennis!) It's a good series that I'd like to see more of, but there are far too many girls in it to get me attached.
Which is the complete opposite of the next series we watched, 'Airmaster'. It's only got girls in it (with the exception of one guy who shows up later on), but I loveded it! ^.^ I definately want to try and find more of that. And we found it amusing that when the one guy first showed up, he just panted and hi-ya'd a lot, and whispered one word...and we guessed who his seiyuu was. ^,^ We're that good. (or maybe we just really know our TomoSeki)
And then there was this other one that I don't remember the name of that was ok. If there was a point to it, I don't think I got it. But! It did have this reeeeeaaalllly cute star thingie in it named Hoshimaru. ^_^ It was adorable! I want one. ^,^
Aah, so after several hours of viewing, we started to get hungry, so went over to Denny's (which we were calling "tennis" because of the way it's written in Japanese ^^* ) to eat. There I got hyped on coffee and started calling and texting people at random. ^^*
It got semi-late, and we had quite a long trip ahead of us, so we said goodbye to the Faire and, after some fighting with the parking garage over their machine eating our 55 cents (!), we left. Took Slave home, then to San Jose, dropped Mew-chan off, then, driving past my house, took Jesse to Gonzales, where his sister picked him up. Then I got to go home at last.
And that's it! Whee!
So, yeah, though it wasn't much, JTAF was rather fun. I enjoyed running around as Gakuto, ranting about TeniPuri and...everything else.
Aah... ::sigh:: Good times.
Pishures!
Taken by Slave, donated by Mew-chan, and only of us, because I don't feel like posting many pics, and am selfish like that. =P
Me as Gakuto.
The bendy, flippy uke! (aka: fluke...pronounced "floo-kay" ^^* )
Mew-chan as Kaidou.
A strange combination.
Die, Mamushi! Die!! ^^*
Cuffed.
TeniPuri group. (kyaa! I'm surrounded by Seigaku! ^^* )
Crossover. ^^ With Helen and Kitty.
The group holding up Kaidou.
Random shot of us.
Let's face it, Gakuto is one hot little uke. ^-^
"Your big sword is no match for my tennis!"
And they lived happily ever after.
The end.
